The Costa Rica Tarrazu La Pastora arrived in our roastery a few weeks back and has quickly become a real favourite of ours.
Tarrazu coffees are rated some of the finest in the world. These beans are grown at high altitudes, above 3,900 ft, allowing them to be designated Single Hard Bean – the highest classification in the Costa Rican system.
The coffee looks fantastic as green; an intriguing deep green and uniform screen size, roasts well and most importantly tastes excellent too! This one is especially good as an espresso, well balanced, creamy and an abundance of sweetness in the form of honey, dates and ripe grape. Yes, you get high acidity derived from the volcanic soil, but this brightness is much more subtle than one would expect. Do also try this as a drip brew or fully immersed coffee too!
