Kenya Peaberry

£2.50

Normal coffee trees sometimes produce a few smaller than average cherries in which only one bean forms. This single bean, aptly named the "peaberry" does not have a characteristic flat side (where the two halves of a normal coffee bean meet inside the cherry). Peaberry coffee beans are generally considered more flavoursome than standard coffees because there is only one cheery to "soak up" all the flavour. Some coffee experts describe peaberry beans as having more coffee "essence" than standard coffee, a far cry from once being rejected as a defective coffee crop.

This Peaberry coffee is grown north of Nairobi on high plateaus surrounding Mount Kenya. The rich, volcanic soils, high altitude and  excellent climate help the coffee to produce its classic Kenyan flavours and aromas. If you enjoy Kenyan coffee, then this is one to try. Fine acidity, as all good Kenyans have, along with fruity after tones make this a classic Peaberry coffee.
