Pinhead Gunpowder

£1.70

Gunpowder Green tea dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907). It is believed to take its English name from the fact that the tea resembles gunpowder pellets used within cannons. This resemblance is shown by the way the green tea leaves are rolled into small pellets during their production. There is another popular theory where "gunpowder" may come from the Mandarin Chinese term gang paò dè, which means "freshly brewed," and sounds like the English word "gunpowder".

Pinhead Gunpowder is even more tightly rolled than ordinary Gunpowder, which requires an even higher level of skill to produce.

Our Gunpowder green tea produces lovely amber liquor and has a delicious fresh, sweet, smooth and slightly herbal flavour.
