Sikkim Temi Estate black leaf FTGFOP1 tea is an excellent example of fine leaf tea's from the Temi Tea gardens in Sikkim, North East India. Sikkim is India's second least populated state (behind Goa) and is nestled in amongst the Himalayan mountain range, bordered by Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. Currently only one tea garden resides in this tiny state, the Temi Tea gardens, which only came to being in the mid 1960's. Its success as a garden can be attributed to careful plant selection, a fantastic environment ranging between sub-tropical to alpine climates, high altitudes and excellent soil types.
Sikkim tea can be described as light, complex and mildly fruity, very similar to its neighbouring and more famous tea producing region, Darjeeling. The very best crops that come out of Sikkim, will give any Darjeeling tea a good run for its money!
This particular consignment is an excellent example of Sikkim tea that displays a well balanced aroma, complexity in its taste, beautiful silver tips, a superb tea!
