Verbena, aloysia tryphilla, is a perennial shrub native to South America, particularly Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Paraguay. Verbena is believed to have many health benefits including: acting as a nerve tonic, antidepressant, expectorant, antispasmodic, especially good for the digestive system and treating colic.
Verbena tea is high in natural oils and posses a delicate citrus flavour. Verbena, with it's lemon aroma, can be used to add flavour to food dishes such as poultry.
