Roaster's Notes

An anaerobic natural Ugandan coffee with vibrant pineapple, tangy tamarind, and sweet almond notes. Tropical, complex, and wonderfully expressive.

Story

Norman Mukuru is a coffee guru with decades of experience. In the flatlands approaching the foothills of Mt. Elgon he has established The Coffee Yard, a huge centre for coffee drying with a formidable reputation for high quality naturals with a diverse range of cup profiles curated for individual clients' specific preferences.

For the past several years, The Coffee Gardens and Norman Mukuru have been working closely together to raise the quality of coffees from Mt. Elgon.

Muki Fruity is a delicate microlot designed for clients seeking a more gentle flavour profile compared to the stronger Imbalu Coffee. This coffee features mango, cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, tamarind, and balsamic notes, and winey acidity.

The microlot was named by combining the names of the strong team, Norman Mukuru and Maria Kirya. Maria, Head of Quality at Norman's, has been with the company since its inception in 2018 and brings years of experience, having worked in coffee since 2009. She is fundamental to coffee taste profile development and finds blind cupping especially interesting, as it helps her identify processing issues unbiasedly, providing valuable feedback to the production team while ensuring that the coffee meets customer expectations.
