Story
Omuwhere is the crown jewel of Stancoff's coffee collection—a microlot produced exclusively from the finest Grade A cherries. In the local Runyankole-Rukiga language, Omuwhere means abundance, a word that captures both a bountiful harvest and the spirit of prosperity shared between farmers and the company.
More than a name, Omuwhere is a celebration of partnership. It reflects Stancoff's commitment to listening to and supporting its farming communities, ensuring that farmers have the knowledge, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. In return, farmers dedicate themselves to producing outstanding coffee.
In Kabarole District, near Fort Portal in Western Uganda, Stancoff works with a network of 203 coffee farmers, including 80 women farmers. The farmers are supported by lead farmers who purchase coffee from other farmers in their communities and prepare it for delivery to Stancoff. The variety cultivated is SL28.
During the season, these farmers supplied approximately 70 tonnes of coffee cherries, which ultimately resulted in close to 10 tonnes of export-quality green coffee beans. The coffee is initially processed at Stancoff’s facility in Rubirizi and then transported to Mbale in Eastern Uganda for dry milling before being exported.
